METHODOLOGY
The Banker’s Bank of the Year Awards are the most prestigious in global banking. The scope of the awards covers more than 120 countries worldwide.
Banks are sent an application form in May. We ask for balance sheet data and detailed answers to four questions around strategic initiatives, technology, new products and services, and sustainability. Banks compete within their local markets and one winner is chosen in each country to receive the Bank of the Year accolade.
Licensed full service commercial banks, retail banks and digital lenders are eligible for entry. All entrants must be able to provide three years of financial history in the form of end-year performance figures.
The Banker’s awards are judged by a panel of editors including regional and sector specialists. The decisions are made according to a key criteria of improvements made over the past 12 months and both small and large banks compete on an even playing field.
The results are peer reviewed and the reasons for winning are made clear in the write-ups in the December issue of The Banker.
